SEED & STONE

Seed & Stone opened in 2025 and carries mostly locally made, natural, and handcrafted items. You'll find everything from rocks, minerals and fossils, to bird seed and feeders, to garden and prairie seed, and more! We hope to eventually also offer organic staple food items via bulk bins. Seed & Stone is an opportunity for us to offer products that we value, here in our community.

RESTORATION

Amy and Aaron Bishop purchased the building at 39 Main Avenue in the Fall of 2019 and spent several years painstakingly renovating it to retain its historic character.

LODGING

The 2nd level of our building holds two short-term rental apartments. They are not yet complete, but will be listed on Airbnb. They will also be available to book from the storefront at Seed & Stone or here online. Two spaces are available; each with a minimum of a two night stay. There's plenty to do in the area and Harmony is a good home-base!

ABOUT US

Amy and Aaron Bishop are the owners of the lovely old building at 39 Main Avenue North in Harmony. We purchased the building in the Fall of 2019 and have been painstakingly restoring it in our spare time since then. Aaron is from Harmony; he grew up 5 miles south of town at the family business, Niagara Cave. After getting his geology degree he returned to manage the family business with his brother. He keeps plenty busy March - November at the Cave. In the off season (and after hours during the busy Cave season) he has spent the last several years restoring this building with his wife. He looks forward to the restoration being complete so that we can have a bit of spare time again. In his free time he enjoys writing, reading, exploring nature, and traveling.

Amy is from south central Minnesota. She originally came to this beautiful region for a position with Seed Savers Exchange outside of Decorah, IA. She worked at SSE for six years. As their Greenhouse Manager she grew all of the transplants for their Preservation department. She also managed their squash hand pollination program, reared pollinators for their pollination tent program, processed fleshy fruited crops, as well as completed winnowing and final cleaning of all crop types (dry and wet-seeded) for SSE's efforts to promote and maintain heirloom seed crops for generations to come. Somewhere along the line she met Aaron and after some traveling, they combined households and lives and found their forever farm a mile south of Harmony. Their farm consists of an 80-acre prairie restoration as well as alfalfa. They're stewarding the farm to promote habitat for pollinators, birds, and wildlife. They've planted small patches of oaks to create oak savanna, have fruit trees for home use, as well as a large planting of blueberries and honeyberries for a potential future u-pick operation.

They have two dogs; an 11-year old Hungarian Sheepdog named Griffon and an 8-year old Old English Sheepdog named Aurora. They've also recently welcomed an easy-going and friendly cat into their family, who showed up to join them on a walk one day. The dogs approved, so she stuck around and still joins them on their evening walk.
